amended income tax return

Let’s face it, taxes are complex and there is a lot of room for errors with the ever changing tax code and the piles of documents that are needed to file a tax return. People commonly forget to include documents or do not realize they are entitled to certain credits or deductions (or even their accountant or tax preparer didn’t know). A tax amendment should be filed to correct any piece of information that will change your tax calculation.

Joe is the absolute BEST!! He is very knowledgeable, helpful, compassionate, friendly, and very easy to talk to. Everyone at Clean Slate that I talked to was so understanding and nice. They made me feel comfortable sharing very private financial issues that I have a hard time talking about. They were very patient with me paying them for their services. I could not have asked for a better company! (...)

From the first contact with Clean Slate to my final day EVERYTHING was transparent, professional and incredibly friendly, straight forward and honest.
No false promises and they kept us in the loop all the time. They promised no more than they could deliver and delivered everything they set out to do.
A pay garnishment and HUGE tax burden was lifted and settled, as they had originally planned.

I’m sure that the good folks at Clean Slate had heard it before....but for me, it was true....it was an accident. That I didn’t file tax returns for 5 years. 2 family members, the 2 I loved the most, and the longest, passed within a year of each other, and it broke me. For the next 4 years. Every time I sat to do my returns, my mind went dead. And along the way, I had been hearing so many ads, “Got a tax problem? Call us”(...)

A tax return amendment could mean more money is owed or less money is owed. No matter the situation, it is important to get the filing correct because the taxing authorities may stack on additional penalties and interest on the error or you can lose an additional refund. No matter whose favor the error is in, it is always in your favor to file an amendment if the return was incorrect.

Situation 1: An Error is Made in Filing and You Owe Additional Taxes

If you or your tax preparer filed with an error and owe additional taxes, we will file the amendment as soon as possible for you in order to limit the interest that may be charged on your account. We will double check your tax return to see if any other credits or deductions were missed to possibly lower the amount of taxes owed. If the due date of the taxes has already passed, we will take a look at your filing situation and determine if penalties can be removed through penalty abatement. As long as you have reasonable cause for the errors, penalties incurred may be removed or reduced.

If you cannot pay the additional taxes owed in full, we can assess other ways to settle your tax problems.  for your situation.

Situation 2: An Error is Made in Filing and You Are Due a Refund

Why let the IRS or State keep your hard earned money? After all, they will not pay you interest on money they owe you. We will double check your tax return and find all mistakes made to ensure your maximum refund and make the appropriate tax amendment filing.
